The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree is awarded upon the successful completion of four and half years of study and one year of internship to the students as per the regulations of the Dental Council of India (DCI). The course incorporates lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, seminars, clinical work, and other action-based learning.
The aim and objective of the curriculum are to produce dentists who have adequate knowledge and necessary skills required for carrying out activities appropriate to a general dental practice involving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of anomalies and diseases of the teeth, mouth, jaws, and associated tissues. The graduates should also understand the concept of community oral health education and be able to participate in the rural health care delivery programs existing in the country.
