Department Of Pediatric and preventive dentistry
The Department of Pedodontics started functioning under Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences in 2007, moving out to function as a separate department 4 years back. We have made significant improvement both quantitatively and qualitatively.
In the past 1 year, we have rendered treatment facilities to 2665 patients, out of which 853 were old and 1812 were new.
Apart from routine Pedodontic treatment procedures like restorations, pit and fissure sealents, pulpotomies, pulpectomies, fluocide applications, pulp cappings, extractions, stainless steel crowns etc, we also treat incipient malocclusion and growth deficiencies.
The department of Pedodontics at Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences is well equipped with ten dental chairs and all modern dental instruments and equipments necessary to under quality and efficient dental care to our patients. Keeping in mind our young toddler patients. We have provided them with a comfortable waiting area complete with toys and games for their amusement.
For the students coming to this department we have a seminar room for conducting clinical classes. Pre-clinical classes for 2nd year students are being conducted weekly once and theory classes for 3rd year students are also being undertaken once a week.
This department is headed by Dr. R. Rajesh (Professor & Head) who has various publications to his credit. All the staff members collectively and continuously work towards the upliftment of the department in every possible way.
